Your attitude toward money will determine your destiny and purpose in life. Money itself is not a bad thing but the love of money always is. You can have a lot of money and still be poor in everything that matters.
What you do with your money is what counts not how much of it you have. Money is not the root of all evil, but the love of it is. Money is a form of wealth you get from other people but true wealth comes only from God. He alone gives you the power to get wealth. Money is a great gift in the hands of someone who loves God. It is a great curse in the hands of someone who makes money his god.
Money is a poor God to serve because it cannot buy you time, real joy and happiness, talent, good health, peace and tranquility, character, morals, common sense, a happy home, or even make others respect, value and love you.
Money can help you to honor God and build His kingdom on earth. It can provide for your family and buy you comfort. It can provide you with something to give to others. It can buy you experiences and allow you to see the world. It can help you to learn and grow personally. Money can teach you to think big and how to take control of your life by focusing on opportunities instead of obstacles. All of this is good but these things are only temporary in this life.
When money itself becomes the most important thing in your life then it becomes your enemy. An intense and selfish desire for money causes people to do all kinds of bad and destructive things. The love of money motivates them to lie, cheat, steal and even murder. Money easily becomes your master and you serve it rather than God. The Bible is clear on this, “you cannot serve two masters (money and God) for you will love one and hate the other. Who or what are you serving?
If you are saving money for something like a down payment on a house, a new car or a vacation, then it’s a good thing. However, saving money just to have more money is a bad thing. It’s the endless having to have more money and the fear of lack that becomes the problem and it will ensnare you and destroy your life.
The love of money is an emotional illness for many. It has to be treated like any other disease or it will breed all kinds of evil in your life. It will cripple you just like any life threatening illness. An unhealthy obsession with money has to be recognized and dealt with or it will deal with you.
Is money a gift from God for you to be used to help others? Or is it something you want more of with no clear goal or reason? The way you answer these questions will determine your destiny and future. One path leads to life eternal, the other to death in this life and the one to come. You have to choose which is more important, living for money or living for God, choose wisely.
